Patron Status (Resource Manager)

The Patron Status page lets you view information about a particular patron, such as: Checkouts, fines, a current transaction summary and more. You can also print a replacement barcode label for a patron.

Retrieve a Patron Record

To open the patron record:

  1. Select Circulation > Patron Status.
  2. Either:  
    • Scan the patron's barcode in the Find Patron field.
    • Type the Barcode in and click Go or press Enter.

If you do not have the patron's barcode at hand, you may try the following options:

  1. Search by entering the patron's first, middle, or last name, nickname, grade level, homeroom, user name, a value in one of the User Defined fields, or a District ID.

    Note: If you do not have the whole name or word, enter part of it, followed by *.

    • To expand the search to other schools in your district, clear the Only my patrons checkbox.
    • To speed the search, select the Only search checkbox and select the field from the list.
  2. Then, click Go.
  3. If a list appears, select the correct name.

    At the top of the page, an alert message about holds, overdues, fines, or an important note may appear. Beneath the alert message (if any), basic information about the patron appears.

    If the patron is associated with your school, Destiny displays the patron's local barcode. Otherwise, Destiny displays the barcode from the patron's primary site.

Check in Unbarcoded and Consumable Items

Notes:

  • Consumables do not need to be checked in or out. At the end of the loan period, a nightly job runs and deletes them.
  • Consumables can be checked in early; they are added back to the inventory with an Available status.
  1. Select Circulation > Patron Status.
  2. Find the patron.
  3. In the Items Out section, find the item you want to check in.
  4. Click Check In.

The available copy count for each resource increases by 1.

Print a Replacement Barcode Label

  1. Click Print Label near the top of the page.
  2. Select the label stock and starting label, and adjust your offsets, if necessary.
  3. Click Run Report.
  4. To clear the patron information, click Reset on the side menu or enter the next patron's barcode number.

Manage a Patron's Transactions

The Items Out section lists all the patron's current checkouts.

  • Overdue items have the due date in red.
  • Items borrowed from other sites in your district have the lending site's name before the barcode number.

Access a Patron's Checkout History

  • To view the patron's checkout history, next to Items Out, click View History .
  • To view the patron's fine history, next to Fines, click View History.

Renew Checked-Out Resources

Note: Checked-out resources can only be renewed if they have a loan policy interval that includes an associated calendar date or number of days. The Renew button only appears when the loan period changes the due date or has been updated. If the loan policy is Unlimited, the Renew button does not appear. To see it, check the item in and out again.

Mark a Patron's Checkout Lost or Stolen

  • Click Lost next to an item to mark it lost.
    • If you charge fines for lost items, an alert message lets you do so.
    • If you opted to have fines automatically calculated, an alert message lets you accept the fine, edit the amount, or waive an amount.Example of a Lost Item message on the Patron Status screen
      • It says the item will be marked as lost.
      • It lists to patron name and barcode.
      • It includes the amount the patron will be charged.
      • It includes two buttons: OK and Cancel.

        If you select OK, the item will be marked as lost.

  • Click Stolen next to an item to mark it stolen.

Note: You cannot mark items from other sites lost or stolen.

Review a Patron's Statistics

The Current Transactions section lists the transaction summary information for the patron.

Manage a Patron's Notes

The Notes section shows any notes that have been added to a patron record. For more on managing notes see Use Notes.

Contact a Patron or the Parents

You can find the patron's street address, phone number, and email address under Contact Information.

If the email address is linked, click it to send the patron an email.

Print a Patron's Information

You can print the following information about a patron: current checkouts, circulation statistics and contact information.

  1. Select or deselect the checkboxes, including the patron's phone number and the resource names on the list.
  2. Click Printable at the bottom of the page
  3. Use your browser's Print option.
