Supported One Search databases

One Search comes with free, preloaded databases to get you started. You can change the default list by adding or deleting databases.

Add non-IP verified subscription databases to the One Search service

  1. Log in as the Destiny Admin.
  2. Select Catalog > Search Setup > Enriched Content Searches sub-tab.
  3. Find One Search Database Information, and then click Edit.
  4. Click Add Databases.
  5. Find the database(s) you want to add, and click Add.

Each database you select might require you to enter different authentication information, such as a username, password, URL, or customer number. You can get this information from the database vendor. If you would like students to have access to search One Search databases away from school, ensure your students log in to Destiny with a username and password.

In the event your selection yields a list of multiple databases, such as when you select a subscription encyclopedia database, select the checkboxes to enable the databases you subscribe to.

Selecting the checkboxes under Preset selected tells Destiny to search this database by default whenever users perform a Basic library search and set the Material Type drop-down to Any Type. In Power Search, Destiny automatically selects the checkbox for the Preset selected databases under Include Online Resources. Patrons must manually select any database in Power Search not set as Preset selected.

The Allow Students, Allow Staff, and Allow Guests options let you decide which groups of patrons can search specific databases. You need to enable the students, staff, and guest access levels to give these patron groups permission to search One Search.

Ensure your Third-Party Subscription Database licenses allow public access before permitting guests to search One Search. You are responsible for complying with the license terms.

  1. Select the checkbox next to the database you want to include.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Repeat steps 5-6 as needed.
  4. When you finish, click Back, and then click Close.

EBSCO databases

If you use EBSCO databases, you cannot use your generic One Search login. You need to contact EBSCO to receive a new EIT Login that is used specifically with EBSCO and Destiny.

important: You do not need to set up IP verification script if EBSCO is your only IP-verified database.

Obtain your EIT profile from EBSCO

  1. Send an email to support@ebsco.com with the following information:
    1. Subject line: EBSCOEIT Access: Follett – [enter school/district name here]
    2. EBSCO Customer ID or physical address for your school/district
    3. Authentication updates for the account (IP addresses you would like to register, etc.)
  1. Once you receive the EIT profile information from EBSCO, follow the Add non-IP verified subscription databases to the One Search service above to add EBSCO databases to the One Search service.
