Search for Matching Records
What Happens if Destiny Does Not Find Matching Records?
In Destiny, on the Catalog > Add Title > Check Sources sub-tab, you can search for titles to support your curriculum. If no matches are found in a usable record from your collection, Alliance Plus Online, or a Z-Source, you can click Add the Title to create a new record. The Brief Title sub-tab or the MARC Editor opens (depending on your preference during the current session).
To help you create a record, your search term or number is automatically entered in the appropriate field, and the material type you chose is selected from the list.
If you prefer not to – or cannot – create a record from scratch, search again using a broader search term to find a similar record that you can adapt to fit your needs.
If Destiny Finds Matching Records, What is Next?
When Destiny does locate one or more matching records, a list of them appears. Destiny returns all matching records from your collection, up to 200 records from Alliance Plus, and up to 200 records from each configured Z-Source.
- Records from your collection are marked with a red house. Always choose one of these, if possible, to avoid having duplicate records in your collection.
- Remember that the schools and media centers in your district share title records. Copy records, however, belong to the individual schools that own the copies.
- Records from Alliance Plus are marked with an A+.
- Records from Alliance A/V are marked with an AV.
- Records from a Z-Source are marked with a lightning bolt and the configured Z-Source name.
